Je regrette, mes amis!

Hello all!!

Very sorry for the long, long, long delay in writing. I could blame it on my intense hours of studying, days of pouring over papers and charts on conjugation in the subjunctive....but that would be a slight exaggeration. It's pure laziness. No excuses.

Now it's time for some updates. The other half of Franglais - my dear roommate Shandra - has a hectic schedule that leaves little time for blogging or, well, leisure of any kind. So she's sliding in to more of a supporting role. Between living and studying together, we're having a lot of the same rants, reflections, doubts, and experiences. I'm just taking over the actual blogging - Shandra is much too big of a personality to be phased out!

With this news in mind - I am 100% committed to making "Franglais" your candid, frank, funny, and often crazy source for all things French and French-related. This means regular posts. I owe a lot of rants to the blogging community - good thing my first semester as a French major gave me plenty of material! (And my first winter break gives me a ton of free time).

Here's to "life en franglais" :)

Our Life en Franglais (Thus Far)

What is franglais?

According to about.com, franglais is the "dialect" that is created by mixing French and English together. According to us, it is sleep-depriving struggle to blend french and English not just into our words, but into our lives. Think of it as a really bad waltz in which the woman can dance well, but the guy can barely count to three. One has grace and rhythm but is in no in a position to take over; the other is dominant but is constantly tripping over himself. Like french and English, they seem incompatible. Maybe Dancing With the Stars can help....

Wish us luck, and feel free to share your stories en franglais or en whatever you wish!
